Petit performs on guitar with both his trio and his Quintet. In the studio he also plays bass, percussion, keyboards and sings. Petit composes and arranges for his live groups and in the studio for all instruments.

He has been recorded on many projects as a sideman and has recently finished his second, self-produced and engineered release as a composer/performer/leader. This new project brings together influences from Metheny to Djavan to Jobim to Steely Dan was entirely recorded and mixed by Petit at walkerecordings studio in New York City.
