Combs Instruments
Combs Instruments is dedicated to building deeply expressive, acoustic-first archtop guitars inspired by the legendary designs of the pre-war Golden Era. Heavily influenced by the historic 1920s and 30s jazz scene, luthier Combs crafts premium archtops that seamlessly bridge vintage mojo with modern precision. From the punchy, mid-range presence of the 16” Aldridge model—named after Oklahoma City’s historic Deep Deuce jazz venue—to the commanding big-band bark of the 17” Advance, each instrument is meticulously voiced utilizing classic X, parallel, or innovative falcate bracing styles. Beyond his masterwork acoustic guitars, he is also revered in the jazz guitar community as the designer of the highly acclaimed JJ-150 preamp pedal, meticulously capturing the iconic early tube-amp grit of the Charlie Christian era.
