Greg Ruby
A prominent voice in the American acoustic jazz scene, Seattle-based guitarist, composer, and music historian Greg Ruby is celebrated for his deep immersion in vintage swing and the Hot Club tradition. Ruby first captured national attention during his multi-year tenure with the pioneering gypsy jazz ensemble Pearl Django, touring across the US and Europe and performing at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois-sur-Seine, France. An exceptionally versatile bandleader, his projects span the Prohibition-era dance rhythms of The Rhythm Runners to the mid-century Parisian charm of the Bric-a-brac Trio. Beyond his active performance schedule, Ruby is a highly respected educator and archivist; he serves as the director of Guitar Week for the world-renowned Swannanoa Gathering, contributes instructional columns to Acoustic Guitar magazine, and has authored definitive play-along songbooks honoring swing legends Django Reinhardt and Oscar Alemán. Whether unearthing lost 1920s jazz charts or composing original music featured on networks like NBC, Ruby brings a brilliant blend of historical authenticity and fresh, melodic swing to the modern stage.
